A perfect wedding in Italy: tips and advice!

Are you thinking of getting married in Italy?

Bringing all of your family and friends abroad seems to be difficult…. You will understand from the fastness of the rsvp’s replies that it isn’t!

Everybody is willing to jump on a plane and experience some nice food, good weather, wonderful landscapes and meet so many Italians!!!! Cm’on!

The first important tip when you think about getting married in Italy is…

GET A MAN AND GET HIM TO MARRY YOU.

Without this little detail, believe us, it is really difficult to have a nice wedding in Italy. And this is really the only thing we can’t help you with!

Once you’ve done these first steps, you are ready to follow some little less important tips in order to experience a perfect wedding in Italy!

1)  LOOK AT WHEN YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED.

It’s very important to choose the right season when deciding to get married in Italy: summer months are the warmest and most crowded as also Italian tourists have their vacations in July and mostly August – prices for this reason get quite high and hotel availability is reduced.

In addition, if you are looking at flights and accommodation bear in mind that this will be more expensive as well. Choose instead a period between April/June or September/October if you wish for mild weather but you prefer to keep out from the hottest summer tourism or the highest prices!

Also consider getting married on a weekday, as weekends, and particularly Saturdays are more expensive. Having your wedding on a Friday or Thursday, for example, will give your guests the possibility to enjoy a long weekend and try some of the local activities, tours, beaches, etc.

2) CHOOSE THE RIGHT FLIGHT

If you come from a European Country you can consider one of the hundreds low cost flights landing all over Italy, close to the most beautiful venues;

If instead you are flying-in from a non European Country, have a look at the main International airports. We will be happy to provide you with the quickest and cheapest private transfer services to the venue you’ve selected without having to take other National flights or trains.

3) LOGISTICS IS A MUST

As a logic consequence, after having found the best Airports for the right venue you will start considering the most suitable transfers for your guests!  We would suggest your guests to share the same flights and get to Italy all together: it will be certainly a nicer and more fun trip, besides giving the possibility of sharing a bus or a collective transfer and paying a little per head, without having to make their own way through buses, trains, and taxis which may result far more difficult and expensive!

We will certailnly help you with it and we assure you that your guest will be so happy of how much we will care for them!

4) SAVE THE DATE

Let your guests know about your wedding as soon as possible so that they will easily find the best flights and accomodation options and you will quickly estimate how many guests will be attending!

This will help you book the banqueting service, plan transfers and pick nice side activities knowing the exact costs and possibilities.

5) CEREMONY AND RECEPTION IN THE SAME PLACE

Pick a venue which offers the possibility of holding the ceremony in its grounds. As an alternative, if you have to move guests use an original and traditional mean of transport:

A boat…a Fiat 500…an Ape car…a vespa… And make it a unique experience!

6)  CEREMONY TIME

If you’re willing to get married in summer in the early afternoon, please consider that temperatures could be a little too demanding for your guests to handle especially for outdoor ceremonies.

We’d rather suggest a late afternoon ceremony or to shade guests providing some nice sun umbrellas in style with the theme of the wedding.

AND DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR SUN CREAM!

7) EMBRACE THE LOCAL WEDDING CULTURE!

Find out the local wedding traditions and try to incorporate them into your wedding.

Using local wedding items/food/customs will also allow you to save as they are already locally available in wide quantities for the Italian brides, making them cheaper.

An example?: It is traditional to give “Bomboniere” – or “Favours” to all guests at the reception.

Bomboniere are 5 sugared almonds to symbolise Health, Wealth, Fertility, Happiness & Long Life.

These are beautifully wrapped. Favours are usually given instead of a traditional ‘Thank you’ card.

8 ) THINK GREEN

Flowers are one of the nicest way of enriching your wedding ceremony and reception and creating the style and mood you want. We suggest you to choose local and seasonal flowers which will surely match the environment, instead of imported flowers or plants which may just be much more expensive; Italian flowers offer a great variety of colours, shapes and sizes so you won’t be disappointed with them!

Think green, and go for Italian flowers!

9)  BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES FOR THE EVENT

Just like you we think that a bride should wear the most beautiful shoes ever! You might choose those you prefer without considering how uncomfortable they could be though: please just be sure to bring a second pair of very comfortable shoes with you, so that you will enjoy the whole night without going around in your bare (and sore) feet!

10) SAVE THE PICTURES

It doesn’t matter which photographer you will choose, since Italy is full of very good professionals and we know indeed the best ones, although… please be sure to take pictures before you drink!

11) CHOOSE TO TOUR ITALY AS AN HONEYMOON!

Since every place in Italy is so beautiful and each so different from the other, once you’ve chosen where to get married, don’t miss the possibility to visit other places touring them for your honeymoon ….nobody ever complained so far!

AS A CONCLUSION:

Italy offers a great variety of spots to its tourists. We do suggest you to look at some particularly beatiful architectural masterpieces, to learn a bit of history, but also listen the hundreds of tales told about each place and some good Italian music and see the beauty of the landscapes. But most importantly, take the time to talk with the people.

Your life will be richer as a result!
